Our Mission and Philosophy
Founded in 2013, the Ray of Light Scholarship Fund (the “Foundation”) seeks to change lives and enable dreams through education. Scholarships are given to promising students of all walks of life who demonstrate a drive to succeed, often against great odds, in order to create a better future for themselves or for their community. It is the Foundation’s goal to open doors to schools these students could not attend any other way due to financial hardship.
It is our belief that in working with adolescents on the cusp of adulthood, you can have a profound impact on their future. And in turn that they can have a profound impact upon the world. Providing guidance and removing financial obstacles helps empower each of our scholars to achieve their potential.
Student Selection
Our scholars are selected on the basis of high potential or distinguished academic performance, school and community service, leadership and financial need. Many have overcome significant personal and social obstacles. We typically partner with school professionals who have knowledge of the student’s background, community contributions, and financial need in order to identify promising students. They must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered. Once an initial scholarship has been granted, it may be renewed on an annual basis. To remain Ray of Light scholars, students must maintain an overall B average at their academic institutions and submit annual evidence of their financial need.
